Someone paid a lot of money for those hand painted tiles from the ’70s

I love the tile in this house. I’m a tile lover, esp. hand-painted, Mexican, etc. True, it might not appeal to everyone, but I hope it appeals to someone because it would be a shame to destroy all of this stuff to put in the same old stuff that everyone else puts in. My “favorite” is to put granite on cheap ugly (usually oak) cabinets. It still looks like crap, but it looks like crap topped with granite.

OK, the Mexican tile is AWESOME! I’d buy a house JUST because it had Mexican tile. That totally sells me.

I totally dig the fruits and veggies! I’d take that for a summer house 🙂

I like the painted tiles. But then I’m a gramma.

That is really up-close and personal photo of the mushroom!

Was the tile person BLIND in that bathroom? It is like a plaid shirt that the seamstress did not match! UGLY!

Why so critical of someone’s taste in decorating? After all, it IS their home. Decorate yours the way you like and respect others. Who’s the self declared “Authority” here?? You buy it, you can do anything you want with it. Make the hole thing neutral. Who likes neutral? Who CARES???

Greg, the point of this blog is not to criticize someone’s personal decorating while they live in the house. It’s only about when selling. Trying to appeal to most buyers is the aim here.

I can see that, but from having bought, re-habbed and sold hundreds of properties over the past 20 years, my experience has been that most buyers wouldn’t recognize quality if you stuck the bill under their noses. I suppose beige would be more appealing?? I say “Write the check!” It’s mine until it’s yours, and when that check clears, rip it out! JMO

I don’t get the fascination with mushrooms in the 70s… Makes me think of drugs. Maybe that was the point? I was born in ’80 and I remember that stuff in my aunts’ houses.
