Palm Springs Time Capsule

February 28th, 2016 · 16 Comments

Today we are celebrating the 1970s in a Palm Springs, California home.  [I marked the category “Not Ugly” because the house is in such pristine condition.]  This is a listing in Palm Springs from one of my college fraternity brothers.  Please enjoy the 1970s flashback.  Groovy!

“I wish my brother George was here.”

    Sorry, couldn’t help it…

Wow! That is an amazing house! It looks as if it has never even been lived in as it is just so immaculate.

I love it as it is just so over the top but in a good way. I would actually happily live in that house (except the carpet in the bathroom which I really dislike).
Would have loved to have seen a photo of the kitchen as well.

This house was just featured on another web site dedicated to vintage houses (referred to as time capsule houses) and remodeling. Not my personal taste in decor, but everything was done so well with quality materials and so well cared for that it’s impressive just the same.

    Love the blue bedroom.

    Wow. Lots of COLOR!

My first thought was “Dang… there’s always a LOT of wind in Palm Springs and a LOT of dirt in the air… I’m thinking you’d have to vacuum those carpets Auck.”

We have friends that live in Palm Springs and they talk about the constant wind/dirt-in-the-air all the time. It’s also HOT most of the time and those colors (except for the blue bedroom) don’t exactly send cooling thoughts…. Oh well, different strokes for different folks!

Well, the first 2 rooms would be great for St. Patrick’s and Valentine’s Days!

This is sooooooo over the top and fabulous. Very well done! I would live there in a heartbeat and not change a thing.

I have to leave a comment because all of that is sooo awesome! I wouldn’t change nothing. Fact is it is a time cap. It would be perfect for a move set!

This should BE a museum. It is over the top even for 1970s, right? But the bathroom! The bar! I kind of wish my Aunt lived there and when she crashed in her PINK bedroom I could hang out at the bar and drink Harvey Wallbangers. You KNOW they have a pool too…kidney shaped.

Who knew Elvis had a house in Palm Springs?

Wow, that is truly some hardcore green. The pink bedroom is so awful that it’s simply beyond description.

At this point, I’m not sure if my mind is playing jokes on me or not.

I can just imagine Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton back in the day lock lipped in that putrid magenta bedroom. Ugggg! That disgraceful ’70s style!

I’m in love! Imagine house party’s back then. I have always had a thing for 70s decor. I was born in 70s but if I could ever step back in times as an adult, my choice would be mid 70s. I hope they kept it this way. One day I’ll redo my whole home in 70s look.
