Ugly House Photos

They built a shrine for their family photos.

Clutter in the family room.  Clutter in the kitchen too.  Clear it all out.

Pan to the right and we see more clutter, a baby in a swing, a soda machine (!), a person standing to the right, and an unevenly painted wall.  What would you put away?

The dining room looks really cluttered from this angle.

Too much furniture and whatnot in the master bedroom.  Doesn’t look very inviting or relaxing.

Believe it or not, the holiday season will be here soon enough.  Buyers will be thinking about hosting parties & dinners in their new homes.  They will have a hard time imagining a holiday dinner if a dining room doesn’t look like a dining room.  There should be a dining table here, not a foos table or pool table.

Here is a beautiful dining room of a Peoria, Arizona home that I sold quickly.  Buyers can see there’s plenty of room for large groups.  It looks clean and inviting.

Numerous studies have shown that proper home staging helps homes sell quicker and for more money than cluttered homes.  This Phoenix home suffered partially due to the Halloween decorations and clutter.  It took eight months to sell.  Finally sold in late June.

They like lighthouses, Halloween, and dolphins.

Didn’t we see that couch’s partner in the other room?  Too many family photos.

You can only hope sellers stage their home first.  It helps them sell the house quicker and get more money.  It’s that simple.  Straightening out the dining room, putting away clothes and clutter, repainting the walls (check out the green trim and the red paint), and removing humans from the photo would be a huge improvement.

Poor camera angle for the kitchen photo.  Perhaps the photographer didn’t want to disturb the people standing around.

The living room features a lot of what-not:  soiled traffic pattern in the carpet, pieces of paper taped to the wall, a cabinet blocking the door to the master bedroom, other assorted items lined up against the wall, mega stereo speakers, seemingly no other furniture in the room.

Let’s put a few paint samples on the wall to see if we like it.  Then let’s not do anything.  And then take photos for the listing.  Let the buyers decide which color to use.

Let’s do the same thing in the dining room.

At least the blue sponge paint matches the water bottle’s label?

It’s a dog in a cage with one of those cat tower things.  This is what buyers will remember about this house.  Clean kitchen, big rooms, nice tile floors?  Nope.  It’s the house with blue paint and a crazy dog cage.

We can’t figure out the flowery fabric surrounding the window.  Are those window drapes & fabric or is it wallpaper gone mad?  Daisy chandelier from the 1960s or 1970s?

Seen on May 27th for a Scottsdale, Arizona home promotional.  Halloween decorations and other random objects.

Who knows what’s going on in the next room.  It’s a visual hurricane.  A Halloween pumpkin, an Easter bunny, Santa Claus, a snowman, and a million other things.
