But when selling, it’s time for them to pick up their toys and stuff. Right? You can’t just use the excuse, “Well, they’re kids” can you?

It runs in the family.

The owners scratch their heads, “Why isn’t the house selling?” Proper home staging and good photos can help a home sell quicker or at the very least sell at all. Here is a collection of real estate photos from a Phoenix home that did not sell the first time or the second time. The comments section stated, “Owner wants it SOLD.” Hmmm.
Buyers did not go bananas for the house after seeing the garage photo.

Cluttered bedroom with a bed sheet over the window.

Messy bed. What kind of window drapes are those?

The owners changed things up with different decorations in the master bedroom for the 2nd go-around. Didn’t help sell the house either.

Living room with ugly drapes and more clutter. Pool table with broken sides.

The family room/office.

Dining room with Golden Girls’ 1980s pastel & brass furniture.

Fishy shower curtain.

Buyers want master suites to look like spa retreats, a place where they can escape and relax and maybe be romantic.
These Phoenix home sellers want their kids to be with them 24/7 in their master suite’s sitting room. How romantic. “Hey, Honey, the smell of dirty diapers from that garbage bag sure gets me in the mood.”

Dirty clothes, a white tiger stuffed animal, and video games. These home sellers missed an opportunity to stage their master suite as a place to enjoy a romantic fireplace. Buyers will only see a cluttered mess.

Another unromantic master suite. “Honey, come to bed.” “Just a sec, gotta check my e-mails.” “Oh, you’re right. I might as well check mine too.”

The sellers of this Phoenix home will include the baby with a full price offer.

Or they will keep the baby if your offer is lower than asking price.

They left the TV on.

OK, the tornado came and went. Now it’s time for clean up. Starting in the bedroom. A stuffed frog wearing a fireman’s helmet is hanging from the ceiling. A hangar is nailed to the wall. Why?

Another messy bedroom.

The window in the living room is covered up and then blocked by an entertainment hutch. A baby crib is in the living room too. Dirty shoes on the dining table.

Christmas lights over the TV. A box of diapers on the couch. 60 seconds would remove those items and make the room look better.

The kitchen counters should be cleared off.

In this Phoenix home, the children have taken over. Toys dominate the household. When selling however, rooms need to look like their original purpose. Here’s the living room.

The dining room, supposedly. How will buyers visualize their own dining table in this room?

One roll of toilet paper on the spindle and nine back-up rolls above the toilet. What happens if the bathroom gets steamy from a hot shower and makes the spare rolls get soggy? And what’s up with the foil in the windows??!!

Clutter in the bedroom. Stuffed animals nailed to the wall. Fake ivy. Unmade bed.

Children’s toys in the family room.

The kitchen floor is all messed up with two different types of tile. Clutter on the counters. Dirty dishes in the sink.

The curtain might be a wee bit too heavy for the curtain rod. Check out the old original wall heater.

Here’s a late 1960s or early 1970s Phoenix home with step-down living room, complete with metal room divider. Four mirror panels are placed on top of outdated wallpaper. Toys clutter up the room.

Hungry Happy Hippos. I guess the family room was converted to a kid’s playroom, complete with inflatable hippo. You hardly notice the $5 fluorescent light, the fan, the wood paneling, the papasan chair, or the fireplace.
