Remember the Alamo Amusement Park

August 8th, 2009 · 13 Comments

This Phoenix, Arizona home doubles as a new amusement park called “Remember the Alamo.”  Here’s the front entrance with the ticket counter.  Buy this home and pay off your mortgage by charging admission.

In all seriousness, the photo caption reads, “Fountain & Pass-Thru Window.”  Yep, they built a water fountain into the wall.  That’s worth the price of admission right there!

They continued the insane madness to the rest of the back yard.

How many hours were wasted spent on this stupid project?

In the kitchen, they tiled up the wall.

Holy crow…that really does look exactly like the ticket counter at a theme park somewhere! You gotta be kidding!

    Hi Leif,

I only discoverd your blog a few days ago, but already I’ve seen hundred pages - and loving EVERY MINUTE of it! :-)

Can’t believe the crap people can stuff in their houses and the ugly colors they choose. Well, that’s one thing but they don’t seem to realise at all that when you want to sell your house, it must look appealing to the BUYER - not the owner…

Also nice to see your reference to the Dutch ‘foute huizen’ blog since I am from the Netherlands myself. Keep up the excellent work!

WildCard, good eyes. I didn’t even notice the electric outlets. Why would they need so many?

It’s a little over the top but fun. Could you imagine having a party at that house? And I like the tile job in the kitchen I think it looks nice.

I’d just move some dining tables into the space where that first photo is…apply for a liquor license and turn it into a funky little Bar & Grill.

I think it’s a cute and creative environment, I realize that not everyone is going to take to a home like this, but it looks like they put a lot of work in this, and it will be a fun environment for someone. It looks especially well suited for outdoor entertaining and parties. If I were looking for a place in Arizona, I would take a look at this place, just because it isn’t run of the mill, and obviously the people who did all that aren’t either. Bob’s notion of turning it into a little bar and grill has validity, but if it’s in a residential neighborhood, there probably isn’t enough parking, and the neighbors might have a problem with that. It would make a cute environment for such a purpose. Somebody who really enjoys entertaining will like it…I can’t say as I care much for the tiles on the kitchen wall, but over all it’s cute, but then again I look for places that aren’t run of the mill in the first place…

I love this place! What character. No cookie cutter boring place like most houses. Probably not for sale anymore :-(

It looks fun, not sure I would want to live there, but fun none the less.

I wouldn’t visit that “amusement park” in fear that my eyeballs will run away in horror.
