The rest are from Phoenix homes.

Something borrowed, something old, something blue?

Even though these homes are outdated, you have to be impressed with how well they have been taken care of.

    YES, retro cool collection today.

I’ll take ALL the table lamps, the mirror, the coffee table, the bonsai tree, the grasscloth wallpaper, the white side chair and the console table.

I didn’t notice anything about the houses themselves!

When I look at these photos, especially #2, I think aluminum Christmas tree with color wheel, onion dip and potato chips on the coffee table, stiff martinis, tanked guests, and Perry Como on the hi-fi. Who says you can’t go back home again.

I like to include photos of old furniture because they are usually well-maintained and are coming back in style. 1950s and 1960s homes are popular with 20-something buyers now, probably because they remind them of their grandparents’ homes.
Nevertheless, I had one reader call me immature because the mere title of this blog meant I called the old furniture “ugly.”

Some people I know would trip over themselves in delight if they could get their hands on that stuff.

Oh and I agree with Leif. If those retro items are in that good of shape, chances are, the home is well cared for.

Nice to know people want the older homes. That’s what I thought. I notice homes like mine are selling fast around here. I have a 50’s ranch-style house on a big lot. I’m hoping it will sell when we decide to sell it later this year. I’m painting it now.

The blue/gold 4 cushioned jaquard sofa in photo #2 is beautiful. Definitely one of those living rooms for Sunday best. The cushions show no sag. I don’t even have to turn it over to know its 8 way hand tied coils. I’ll bid $1500.00

I like older homes myself, with modern touches brought in~ I can’t hang on shag carpet!

Not my style at all but I can appreciate how well-done and thought-out this decorating is.

Kat, $1500.00 for that sofa?!?! Really?
Girl, I’m going out and finding you that sofa right now.

    Maria,

    Google: 4 cushion sofa

    I found only one. $6,892.00

All of these are cool! I love to see old furniture kept up.

Leif said, “1950s and 1960s homes are popular with 20-something buyers now…”

Yep, that’s true. I am 25 and my husband and I are considering buying our first home. I adore 1950’s homes.

I LOVE the floral couch in photo #1 and truly, I’d kill for the bathroom in photo #3. (No sarcasm intended, here.) I’m just a fan of retro decor. These furnishings would be the cherry in the cake for me; I’d make an offer at once if I was a prospective buyer.

I love love love that yellow bathroom. Reminds me so much of the bathroom in my great-grandmother’s house. I miss her! And that neat house. She kept it retro chic for so many years.
