Welcome To Candy Cane Lane

July 29th, 2010 · 13 Comments

Another home needing staging advice and assistance.

Christmas decorations (lights, candy canes) still up in May.  Half dirt, half grass lawn.  Weight bench in the front yard.

Christmas tree is up.  Lots of family photos.  Cutesy sayings (”I Love You 2 Gore”??) (”Love Always & Forever”).  If they cleared everything out but the furniture, this would be a very nice room (nice floor, nice paint, nice size).

In case they get lost, the signage tells them the next room is the family room.  [Editor: I blocked out their name.]

Very dark family room.

They painted the walls with black paint.

When buyers see the clothes rack, they will assume the closets are too small.  Cluttered dresser doesn’t help.

There’s a big tree in the child’s room.

One of those glass vessel sinks.  But you can see all the plumbing underneath.

They enclosed the patio so that they could fill it with clutter.

More junk from another angle.

Except for the black paint in the family room, this is a perfectly nice house on the inside. So what’s with the run-down exterior?

Maybe they could use the glass vessel sink as a nice fruit bowl display…

    Why have the televisions on?

Do these houses ever sell? I mean, do people BUY crap like this? Because, I never would. I’d turn around and walk right out of there.
I would not get past the front yard.

How many coats of primer would be needed to cover that black wall paint? The cushions and window covering remind me of the Partridge Family Bus.

All I see about the enclosed patio is how much dust and dirt is in there which means that anything I’d put in there would be dusty and dirty. Ugh.

I lived in Albuquerque ages ago, and I can tell you that you will always have dust and dirt in your home in the SW.
Those bedroom pics show me that the home doesn’t have enough closets too.

I feel bad for that poor baby in the bassinet who will probably think he grew up in a cave.

at least they weren’t watching porn. I can’t believe they never heard that you should NEVER paint a room black. It is not hip, it just makes the room look claustrophobic.

Does it occur to nobody that the current owners will be taking a lot of that stuff with them? And even if they don’t, you can always trash it yourself or start off with a yard sale. Sheesh.

Bea, would you buy a used car from someone if it was filled with papers and stuff even though you could recycle or throw it away yourself?
