Buffalo, New York. Where’s it’s cold near year ’round. You’d think the fireplace would be the prominent feature of the home. Not so for these three homes.
Let’s push a big sofa in front of the fireplace. Let’s cover up the rest of the fireplace with personal items. Buyers won’t care, right? [It looks like a person’s face in the bottom left of the photo]

Great idea blocking the fireplace. I did the same thing in my house. And I added a lot of family photos too and kept the curtains closed. We don’t want buyers to think Buffalo has sunlight.

Well, we don’t have a huge couch to block our fireplace so we’ll use kid’s toys and other clutter to hide it.

Buffalo has too much cold weather and snow, just the opposite of too much heat in Phoenix.
I’m convinced that weather extremes do damage people’s brains!

I can’t even grasp the idea of blocking the fireplace.
In that last picture they need to take the scary lady portrat off the wall - among other things.

A lot of the houses are almost a hundred years old or more and the owners haven’t kept up the chimney maintenance. Plus if it’s a rental the landlord usually doesn’t want them using it anyway.

It is a shame to hide a fireplace. Such a nice focal point !
