Mirth In Perth

Thank you to a reader who submitted these photos of a Perth, Western Australia, Australia home.

See?  Us Northern Hemisphere folk aren’t the only ones with messy homes.

Cluttered kitchen counters are found around the world.

Looks like a very nice home.  Just needs trimming around the sides.

Band saw, table saw, circular saw, planer with vaccum, circular saw stand, vise, nail guns, router… “Norm Down Under” lives here.

I think the first photo is all their stuff ready to be moved out to the ute, but I have to say my OCD would not allow such messy packing, when I pack I put everything in sealed boxes, each box gets numbered, and I have a written inventory of what is in each box. When I get to my destination there is no question where something is, I just look on the list and I can go directly to the correct box.

Wow. Even without all the junk, that must be a really cozy place they have there…what with all the “warm, inviting” fluorescent light coming from the (buzzing) ceiling fixtures night…..creepy.

Who (except nursing homes and mental hospitals), puts FLUORESCENT LIGHTS in their LIVING room?!?!?!? Must look like a hospital at night.

Power is extremely expensive in other parts of the world. Florescent tubes in homes isn’t too unusual.
Lots of light for cheaper than light bulbs.

I don’t think they are moving the shop tools. Look at the paths of dust and junk laying around the saws. It looks like a very cluttered shop.

Check out the steel security screens/doors in photos #1 & #2. Since they outlawed guns in Australia, the crime rates rocketed 100’s of percents. Burglary and home invasions are the national past time.

@Sam - wrong. Those are just aluminium (sorry, aluminum) screens. That style is very common in a house of that era, and they’re there to stop home invaders of the insect kind.

    Dragonzflame:
The stuff is called diamond steel mesh. Sometime there are other names for it in different areas.

    for photos.

It could be aluminum, but in the context of Australia and the current crime rates, there is a good chance it is steel. It is backed by fly screen on the openeable windows to keep those B-52 sized flying critters out.

I can’t read the plans drawing on the chalk board in the shop, it would be interesting to see what they are building
