Soul/sole food??? Who puts a smelly shoe rack next to the dining table? These Vicksburg, Mississippi home sellers. Gross.

Another shoe rack! In the living room of a Casa Grande, Arizona home.

I know some folks who take their shoes off as soon as they are in the front door. Maybe that’s what is happening here. A shoe rack by the door for people to put their footwear as they come in the house. Better make sure you have clean socks on!

But what about that weird wall treatment on the first photo? To say it’s damn busy would be a understatement. And that’s after removing all the crap on the walls… I’m just saying…

I’ve seen people put their dirty shoes on a dining table or kitchen counter, totally grosses me out! I keep one pair of shoes by the front door under my entryway table and a pair by the patio door because I don’t wear outside shoes inside the house, but I would never store all my shoes by the front door. If I were selling my house there would be no shoes out in plain view.

I had company come in from Hawaii, and at the front door they asked if I wanted them to take their shoes off? Apparently there is a lot of sand around in Hawaii and it gets ground into the carpet there so people walk in barefoot. However, they left their shoes outside, not inside.

The trouble is that older homes had no foyers or mud rooms. You went right into the living room from the front door and right into the kitchen from the back door. Not only impractical but unsanitary as well.
