It was considered modern at the time of purchase. The dog can’t even look at it.
They probably spent $1000 on it new and don’t want to throw it out because they spent $1000 on it. From a Queen Creek, Arizona home.

ugly room. ugly lamp. owners probably love it though. no accounting for taste.

The lamp isn’t that ugly, but it doesn’t go with that furniture, that decor, that paint, that giant vase with the huge ugly sticks, but in the right room it would be beautiful.

Not my style, though in a few years it will be cool again. The whole room is a “time capsule.”

@AZ - maybe with some Dutch teak furniture, like a desk and a modern chair. I think I know this house, esp if it is in Queen Creek. The owners were “goth” and then shifted to “biker.” Their walls were black too as I recall.
