Yes, I repeated a dozen posts today. Here’s what’s been going on. Starting September 1st, I was no longer able to upload any new photos. 3 calls to tech support got no results. 3 requests to get a copy of the MySQL file (the entire back-up file for nearly 5 years of blogging; almost 6,500 posts and over 18,000 comments) got no results. By some odd miracle, the tech support supervisor was in a good mood and sent me the MySQL file on September 28th. But he did not solve the photo uploading problem.
I signed up with a new host/server company, and they were able to transfer all of this blog’s files over to their server, including the MySQL file to complete the process. The preview site looked good, so I took a big leap of faith and transferred this blog to the new server yesterday. Success!
However, the MySQL file went back to September 28th, so any comments since then are lost, unfortunately.
I have been saving up (hoarding) many, many ugly house photos for the past 6 weeks. The photo below is the first photo I’ve been able to upload since then. My next goal is to return the column on the right side of the blog that’s been missing for 6+ months (another item left unfixed by tech support).
Thank you for your patience. I’ll have new photos tomorrow.

I’m very sorry about all the problems! It can be maddening to deal with technical support people who seem to be anti-client, just to prove a point. Hopefully you now are working with one of the good guys–and there are many of those too.
You have given us so many fun posts, every day, for free, that I don’t think anyone would ever complain. Keep the faith!

I am very happy that you are getting your computer problems resolved. And you certainly picked a doozie to start off in your new incarnation.
I wouldn’t know where to start feeling uncomfortable in that room. Thinking that the collapsing wall was about to collapse inward? Wondering wherewith that door opens at all, and if it does, glimpsing the fact that half of the people passing through it are going to bang their heads, even for the 1000th time.

Welcome Back!! What a picture. Wonder if there is enough brown in that room. And how weird it is. Would take a really special person to live there. If you ever find out why they leaned that wall, and to the inside, please share. Even mobile homes don’t do that!

Did they ask you to renew your web-hosting for the next 3 years? Or because of the massive hits you receive on your site, did they urge you to move to a VPN? Still, even if you went with a VPN, they would only guarantee the data up until Sept 28th. You would be responsible for putting the data on the VPN yourself. Unless of course you signed up for their Super VIP service… …for just $129 a month. Don’t get me started…

Ron, by switching to a new host for all my websites, I’m saving over $400/year. This site uses a lot of data, so I was being charged extra for going over my limit, plus was recently charged extra for database space limits. New server/host has an unlimited data plan.
The data file was so big I couldn’t download it myself (would get 60% done and stall out). I’ve asked for it to be sent dozens of times. I was totally at their mercy if their servers crashed. So I have saved every post’s html code just in case.

Looks like one of those fun houses that make you feel larger when the room gets smaller. Why oh why did they pick fake wood paneling?
