1940 Phoenix Home In Original Condition

October 15th, 2012 · 22 Comments

There aren’t that many older homes in Phoenix, especially built before 1960.  And not many of those are in good condition or left in their original design.

Today we celebrate a vintage Phoenix home built in 1940.  Original kitchen cabinets and tile.

Original milk slot.  Back in the day, milk and dairy were delivered to your house.  Inside the door was a dial.  You would indicate if you wanted milk, eggs, etc.

That is stunning. I love that stove! I hope the people who buy this place don’t gut it and put in granite benchtops.

That is a very charming house. The home owner really took a lot of pride in keeping it in mint condition.

    WELCOME BACK!!

This house is as cute as a dollhouse. I would even put up with that corner sink. I hope they kept the cupboard doors. Love the bathroom.

Oh, now I have a really bad case of “the I wants”!!!
I love that stove and the bathroom sink is great. We are putting off a bathroom renovation until I can find a comparable sink. Hopefully this home will be bought by someone who loves it and not a flipper.

Welcome back and thank you for showing my dream home. Not to brag but there are loads of these houses around me so some day I’ll wash my dishes gazing out of the corner window and I will think of you.

I love this house! Especially my dream stove! I hope the buyer appreciates it and keeps it intact. My one concern would be the wiring. I hope it’s been updated. The bathroom had a hair dryer and a radio, and I remember many 1940s buildings burning down when people plugged in hair dryers in the bathrooms.

Vintage done right, I bet part of this was a romodel to bring the kitchen back to original. This house is going to fetch much too much for a flipper. Flippers like dumps that haven’t been cared for they can get cheap.

Greeney - the wiring has been updated, see the grounded outlet next to the ironing board. And bathrooms of bygone eras didnt have any wall outlets at all! You hade one plugin on the side of the florescent light fixture. I see its still there but sure it hasnt been used for decades. This house is like a museum.

You can certainly tell these folks loved their home. I too cringe at the thought of someone coming in and gutting this beautiful home.
    That stove..Oh my!! LOVE
