Entertainment centers/media niches were popular ten years ago in the Phoenix area.  Nowadays?

Too small for TVs; just right for fish tanks.

Their new TV is too big for the media niche (see the TV on the right?).  Or…all their knick-knacks took over the space and kicked out the TV.

My wife and i bought our first house last year. It was built in 1958, no media niches, just all practicality. I hung up out 55 inch Samsung, no problem!

I grew up in Mesa, so i know the plight of the Media Niche. Space stealing dust collectors, they are.

I see a cat toy in the bottom of one of those wall units. I have a cat that likes to climb. I bet you could make one of those walls of shelves into a neat cat climbing adventure/gym with a little work. That or demolishing it are good ideas.

They are pretty useless now…unless of course you have a cat :-)

I never see these in Pennsylvania and New York. Is this a Southwestern thing?
