The Fall of the Roman Empire

February 15th, 2009 · 2 Comments

The Roman Empire did not fail because of corruption, greed, disease, invasion, poverty, etc.  It died from bad taste, as shown in this home.  Location is undisclosed to protect the sellers.

Yes, yes. Those “ornate” columns and vases (looks like these are complete with plastic grapes) are so fitting, and not at all out-of-place in a plain, architecturally sterile, 1200 sq. ft. suburban tract home…. They, along with the fantabulous faux stone wall, really DO make it look like a sprawling, spacious Italian villa, no? I could NEVER tell the difference! Bravissimo! :-) . The Pepto pink ceiling is such a nice touch, too. lol. Just adds to the mistique of this room :-) - In fairness, however, I must admit to having plastered my teenage bedroom (MANY years ago), with posters of “hair” bands showing men wearing eyeliner, and wearing Spandex….(hangs head in well-deserved shame….and moves on to more funny pictures.. ;-D). Guess we all have our “tastes”.
