The Dog Days of August 2017

August 16th, 2017 · 4 Comments

Sellers continue to showcase their dogs in their real estate photos.

Medina James at DogEtiquette.info has suggestions for dealing with pets when selling your house.

Medina has also provided some useful links regarding pets when selling:

I showed a home this past weekend where the owner was smoking inside the house (full ashtray on the coffee table too). We waited while he put his three big dogs outside. Swirls of dog hair rolled along the floor inside. Outside, the dogs barked and stood up against a flimsy wire fence. We were all nervous.

DogEtiquette.info also has information about dog friendly coffee shops, dog friendly hotels, dog friendly beaches, and dog friendly breweries.

Dogs, while cute, do not belong in real estate marketing photos.

DogEtiquette.info also has information about dog training and dog etiquette at coffee shops.

Here is advice for dog etiquette when buying a home.

California Dreamin’

August 13th, 2017 · 1 Comment

Thank you to our reader Greg who sent these photos of a Tracy, California home. Supposedly the seller had grown marijuana in the garage a few years ago.

Lush landscaping in the back yard. Your own oasis from the chaos of the world.

Your first impression entering the house.

Too bad the photo is trashed by having a bag of garbage in it.

Child’s play and adult anger.

More damage seen around the house.

Access to shower plumbing.

A little too late to start tidying up now. The photographer waits for no one.

Pool Time

August 10th, 2017 · 1 Comment

This swimming pool is empty.

This swimming pool is 1/4 full.

This swimming pool is half full.

This swimming pool is full. Can we assume the owners allowed their kids to swim here?

Up With People

July 24th, 2017 · No Comments

They’re waiting for the buyers to show up.

“I finished mopping. Now I’m going inside.”

The seller got out of the room as requested, but the photographer forgot to crop the photo.

“Our agent suggested buying pretty flowers.”

“I wonder if it’s time to replace the 1950s wall heater. Should I paint over the ceiling stain?”

“I love the shade tarp over the pool.”

Seller’s arm.

Another seller’s arm.

And another seller’s arm.

This seller is making a grab for some water.

Indoor Swimming Pool

June 10th, 2017 · 3 Comments

One of our readers commented on yesterday’s dirty swimming pool post and said he’d like an indoor pool if he bought a house in Phoenix. Well, Felix, your wish has been granted! Here’s a home with an indoor pool! You weren’t specific enough about the size and condition and quality and installation.

The sellers should have cleared off the counter and sink in the kitchen before selling.

And cleared off the stove.

And cleared off the floor. Good grief.

This room could use some attention too. Perhaps by the person standing on the left with the Nike sneakers.

Hey, lazy bones, get up and help the lady clear out everything on the patio.

The Kids Don’t Belong In the Pictures

May 11th, 2017 · 2 Comments

Children or adults or pets should not be in real estate promotional photos.

Please ask them to leave the room when taking photos.

The focus should be on the house, not the child.

2nd photo too many.

3rd photo too many.

Bathroom Photography Fail

April 26th, 2017 · 3 Comments

Bad real estate photography of a bathroom.

A slight improvement but still bad.

Getting better but still not acceptable.

Sigh. You would assume a photography with a tripod would know better.

Palm Sunday

April 9th, 2017 · 1 Comment

Today is Palm Sunday. Two real estate photographers are celebrating by exposing their palms to potential buyers.

Please don’t let them take photos on National Colonoscopy Day.
