Tom Tom Club

March 31st, 2008 · No Comments

A “Genius of Love” (Tom Tom Club song) did not live here.  Someone who likes Southwest décor did.  Note the cowboy hat on top of the blue shade lamp (is that cholla cactus stem?) and the pink hippo next to it.

[Interesting trivia about the Tom Tom Club (1981-2005):  Lead singer Tina Weymouth and band member Chris Frantz formed The Talking Heads with David Byrne in 1975.]

The southwest design elements continue into the kitchen.

Ugly Glendale Foreclosure House

March 31st, 2008 · 3 Comments

Not a pretty picture.  Dead bushes and ugly lawn.  Even the photographer was turned off by the ugly curb appeal; he didn’t even walk 4 feet past his car.

Here’s this foreclosure house’s kitchen.  The cabinet doors are missing.  Funny thing, the kitchen’s a mess but there are cleaning supplies all over.  And a built-in intercom/radio combo too.

Unknown room with junk.

Out back, what’s up with the rusted steel drum, the broken evaporative cooler, and foil in the windows?

Another view of the back yard.  Maybe they used the piles of wood for fires in the steel drum?

One last photo of the back yard with its falling-down fence.

The 70’s Called…They Want Their Wood Back

March 31st, 2008 · No Comments

When was this diagonal wood and mirror design installed?  1975?  The family pet ate part of the couch.

$17.82 Worth of Tile

March 31st, 2008 · 2 Comments

Here’s a photo used to promote the sale of a Phoenix home.  The seller is showing off his 99-cent tile.  This is supposed to impress buyers?

Stolen Air Conditioner

March 31st, 2008 · 1 Comment

A growing trend is the stealing of A/C units in the Phoenix metro area.  Thieves sometimes steal only the copper tubing.  Others are more blatant and steal the entire unit.  I showed a house in south Phoenix last week, saw just the outer casing of the A/C ground unit, & immediately called the listing agent.  He said the house has been vacant for 6 months and that the thieves also broke into the house, entered the attic through the master bedroom closet, and stole the A/C components up there too!  The sellers are now offering $5,000 toward a new A/C unit.  They’re not pleased, I’m sure.

This is a photo of another Phoenix home with a stolen A/C unit.  How could neighbors not see people on the roof?!

Caca-pelli House

March 30th, 2008 · No Comments

Another example of taste-specific decor, which may not appeal to 95% of buyers.  Kokopelli sculpture, southwest pottery, fake cacti in the planter, Taos ladder, etc.

Mobile Home For Sale

March 30th, 2008 · No Comments

The photographer stitched together several photos to create this one panoramic photo.  However, this single detached house comes off looking like a mobile home and could scare off buyers.

Go Wildcats!

March 30th, 2008 · No Comments

I’m a big University of Arizona Wildcat fan, but even I know this isn’t the way to promote the features of this loft space.  Buyers should see the vaulted ceiling and more of the open window area.  The TV, the Christmas lights, and kiddie drum set should go too.

Buy this Phoenix house and earn extra income by hosting dog fights in your back yard.  The seller has already created a pit and will include the German Shepherd dog with a full price offer.
