Yes, people actually bought these brand-new.

With the original stone fireplace and wood trim and furniture, these couches fit in.  Retro look in a Glendale, Arizona home.

The second home would be very nice with just a change of decor.

Don’t laugh , I remember when this trend was new!

These patterns and colors went perfectly with your Early American maple furniture.

Do people get attached to their sofas or something? I just bought a house last year and got furniture. I am already bored with it. LMAO. I can’t imagine having it for 30 or 40 years.

@Lynn - if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. People who purchased these new probably grew up during the Great Depression and aren’t accustomed to extravagant spending, whether they have money or not. In the last photo the furniture looks to be in good condition, at least from where we can see it.

Seeing them in their natural mid century home makes you see that they are actually quite nice where they belong. Can’t say I like that rough velcro feel they have though.

Check the TV in blocking the front(?) door in the last photo.

Now we know why all the stuff is 40 years old, they have not left the house for over 40 years….

I thought these were awful when new back in the 70’s. Sadly, in my town, people who bought them new still own them all these years later - and they still think they’re the most beautiful living room sets ever! I need to move.

I have always had an aversion to Early American furniture. I grew up with it. But That stuff was made to last. My 6 yr old leather couch disintegrated. New stuff is made so cheaply.
