At least it distracts from the small master bedroom and popcorn ceiling. What was the point of popcorn ceilings anyway? For noise or extra insulation or what?

Jayne, the popcorn finish was MUCH easier to spray on than actually worrying about a good smooth drywall finish. Most popcorn ceilings hide bad drywall finish work.
It was a way for builders/developers to quickly run through finishing ceilings without the cost of talented drywall finishers on stilts or platforms.
