Let the Buyer Deal With It

It’s my room!  I can do what I want!  You can’t tell me what to do!  You can’t make me take it down!  I won’t!  Leave me alone!  Gosh, why are you always on my case?

When I was a teenager I had the cleanest room in the house, my bed was always made and I insisted on pink lace curtains on proper rods. I hung my pictures correctly and would never think of writing on my walls. Times have changed, and not for the better.

And again, all the picture shows is the corner, which is horrible, and not the whole room. Forget a buyer when all a seller is willing to show is the bad. What is up with this trend?

Kids used to get swatted for writing on the walls.

Is this some kind of parental throwback from being prohibited in writing on their walls when they were kids?

I have absolutely no problem with my child sketching or writing on their walls, though I would draw the line at any profanity what so ever, which I haven’t had nor think I would ever have to deal with. It’s their room and they can do with it as they wish. Clean yes but artistic expressions are fine. That said, I would expect that same room to be “seller-ready” if we were showing the house.

Exactly. Live and decorate how you like. But when selling, get it ready to impress buyers.
