Frozen in time. Scottsbluff, Nebraska home built in 1975. Wanna bet these are original owners? Triple mirror. Hanging oil lamp (aka rain lamp). Tulips lights. Classic.

Teddy bear collection to go with the old drapes.

Pan a bit more to the right.

The basement features orange carpet, one of those hideous frilled shade lamps, wood paneling, and an old dinette set.

Shifting slightly to the right, we see a million family photos.

The original bathroom features a Princess slimline phone for those long conversations.

Springfield, Missouri where they like huge furniture.

More big furniture in the dining room. And some wine casks. And jars with beta fish?

That’s a lot of wine bottles.

A big tub of lard in the kitchen?

[Let us take a brief break from snarky comments and just enjoy these photos]
Today we’re traveling back to the 1950s. Time has stood still at this Petersburg, Virginia home.

Some 1970s design elements too.

Crushed velour chairs!

Awesome bathroom.

Groovy wallpaper.

Original 1950s kitchen cabinets & oven.

Large dining room.

Close-up of the chandelier.

Fun times in the basement.

Wet bar and a God’s Eye art piece. Good times.

The sunroom. With Astro-Turf?

Thank you to Mikey Fuller and photographer Wanda Bond for these great photos.

Today’s buyers are too busy to worry about painting and cleaning their new home. They want move-in ready homes. Time spent on painting, new flooring, and staging by sellers is well worth it. Sellers will sell their homes quicker and for more money. This living room does not give a positive first impression. Looks like a gym, a bachelor pad, and/or a fixer-upper. Dusty coffee table. Dirty front door and air vents too.

See what new flooring and fresh paint can do to a living room? This Chandler, Arizona home even has similar looking sofas to the photo above. $500 probably got this seller $5,000 more. And if the house sells quicker, that’s less money spent on taxes, insurance, and utilities, which means more money in the seller’s pocket.

Looks like a nice living room with nice flooring. Let’s remove the family photos and fake flowers. And the pillows on the windowsills. Could someone please get the kid at the front door? Thanks.

How about waking up the kid on the couch? Gold lamé drapes.

Spiderman!! Pokeman too!

Bad paint job.

A living room shouldn’t have outdoor Christmas lights, a ping pong table, or an outside swing when selling.

You can’t see the pile of stuff in this living room thanks to Harry Potter’s magic cloaking sheet.

You can only hope sellers stage their home first. It helps them sell the house quicker and get more money. It’s that simple. Straightening out the dining room, putting away clothes and clutter, repainting the walls (check out the green trim and the red paint), and removing humans from the photo would be a huge improvement.

Poor camera angle for the kitchen photo. Perhaps the photographer didn’t want to disturb the people standing around.

The living room features a lot of what-not: soiled traffic pattern in the carpet, pieces of paper taped to the wall, a cabinet blocking the door to the master bedroom, other assorted items lined up against the wall, mega stereo speakers, seemingly no other furniture in the room.

An older Phoenix home (1960s?) was recently renovated. Here’s how the kitchen looked before.

And the kitchen after in 2010.

Another home needing staging advice and assistance.
Christmas decorations (lights, candy canes) still up in May. Half dirt, half grass lawn. Weight bench in the front yard.

Christmas tree is up. Lots of family photos. Cutesy sayings (”I Love You 2 Gore”??) (”Love Always & Forever”). If they cleared everything out but the furniture, this would be a very nice room (nice floor, nice paint, nice size).

In case they get lost, the signage tells them the next room is the family room. [Editor: I blocked out their name.]

Very dark family room.

They painted the walls with black paint.

When buyers see the clothes rack, they will assume the closets are too small. Cluttered dresser doesn’t help.

There’s a big tree in the child’s room.

One of those glass vessel sinks. But you can see all the plumbing underneath.

They enclosed the patio so that they could fill it with clutter.

More junk from another angle.
