Publisher Behaviour Interactive has revealed a Dead by Daylight movie adaptation that will be brought to life by Atomic Monster and Blumhouse. While you may not have heard of these two production companies before, you might recognize their movies. Atomic Monster was one of the studios behind the Mortal Kombat adaptation (2021) and Malignant (2021), while Blumhouse worked on Get Out (2017).
Dead by Daylight movie still looking for a director and screenwriter
Stephen Mulrooney, executive vice president at Behaviour Interactive, stated in a press release that the studio is excited to work with the two film studios “to further expand the Dead by Daylight universe.”
CEO and founder of Atomic Monster James Wan believes that Dead by Daylight “has created a love letter to the world of horror” that is “perfect for a scary cinematic adaptation.” He admits that Atomic Monster are big fans of the multiplayer horror game.
Both Blumhouse and Atomic Monster are still searching for the right screenwriter and director for the adaptation. Jason Blum, CEO of Blumhouse, believes that they need to “find someone who appreciates and loves the [Dead by Daylight] world as much as we do.” As such, there is no projected release window for the movie yet.
Blumhouse Productions, along with Universal Pictures, are also working on an untitled Five Nights at Freddy’s horror film. Dead by Daylight had a crossover with Resident Evil in August 2022.
