Hogwarts Legacy 2 and possible DLC has been hinted by Gunnar Wiedenfels, the CFO of Warner Bros. Discovery. He believes that the company is “only just starting to expand” on the Wizarding World, suggesting that additional content for Hogwarts Legacy could be on the way, despite Avalanche Software saying in February 2024 that it currently has no plans for Hogwarts Legacy DLC. But given the extraordinary success of the game, that stance could change at any time.
Hogwarts Legacy sequel has been teased several times
Wiedenfels, speaking at a panel at Morgan Stanley’s investor conference, shares that Warner Bros. sees a lot of opportunity in future Harry Potter games (via Variety):
Take ‘Harry Potter’ as an example, the Wizarding World, the fact that we are enjoying this massive success with the ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ launch, 12 years after the last film came out, shows that there is so much opportunity and we’re only just starting to expand that.
The follows yet another hint from Warner Bros. that Hogwarts Legacy 2 could be on its way. In late February, WB Games president David Haddad stated that the developer was “very pleased with the initial launch” of Hogwarts Legacy and that it can “see a bright future for our other platform launches.”
Unfortunately on that front, Avalanche Software has confirmed that the PS4 release for Hogwarts Legacy has been delayed another time, with the release date now pushed to May 5, 2024. The developer will likely be concentrating all its efforts on the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch releases of the game before starting any major work on a sequel or any DLC content.
