Though Kratos is a man of few words, God of War actor Christopher Judge is quite the opposite. Taking to the stage to accept his award at The Game Awards 2024, Judge spoke for almost eight minutes. Clearly it was a long speech, but could it be the longest ever? Geoff Keighley appears to think so.
Christopher Judge’s TGA 2024 (almost) 8-minute speech
Coming in at 7 minutes 59 seconds, Judge’s speech covered his family, friends, and those that created God of War Ragnarok. His slow cadence and generous pauses no doubt helped extended the overall time of his speech, but most would agree that this only added to the gravitas and overall drama.
The Game Awards Twitter account, presumably manned by Geoff Keighley, drew attention to the length of Judge’s speech, saying that it could well be the longest awards show acceptance speech in history. This record has been held by Greer Garson for over 80 years, with her speech lasting 5 minutes 30 seconds.
Leave it to Kratos to set a world record.
