Metro Exodus Sequel Release Date May Be 2024

by Ali Mahmud

The unannounced Metro Exodus sequel release date is tentatively penciled in for 2024 according to the latest reports. The team has been working on the next Metro game for at least four years and apparently it is now in a fully playable state, with an announcement expected later this year.

What we know about the Metro Exodus sequel

The new game will be a “story-driven single-player experience” once again. The game’s 4A Engine has been completely overhauled to “take advantage of the new power, storage, and hardware supported ray tracing afforded by the new consoles.” The game will only be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC and will not be heading for last-gen consoles.

Embracer Group revealed 4A Games was working on an unannounced project back in 2019, and this was later confirmed to be a Metro Exodus sequel in 2020. According to Insider Gaming, the sequel is now in a fully playable state and this suggests the game could be revealed later in 2024. This would put it on a path to be released in 2024, they say.

Back in 2020, the team also had a Metro multiplayer project in development with Saber Interactive. The status of this game is currently unknown. The team was also looking at exploring new IPs too.
