A job listing for a new Witcher game from developer The Molasses Flood suggest that it could have co-op multiplayer. Additional job listings are also seeking developers who have experience with PvE, a class system, and other notable features.
In early October 2022, CD Projekt Red revealed the codenames for multiple The Witcher games outside of the new trilogy saga for the main series, including ‘Canis Majoris’ (which is The Witcher Remake) and ‘Project Sirius’ from The Molasses Flood.
New Witcher game could also feature branching storytelling
CD Projekt Red has posted a job listing for a full-time Senior Multiplayer Designer with “experience with co-op multiplayer design.” In addition, the designer will work on “game modes, player progression, and social systems” and must have high proficiency working with Unreal Engine 4 and/or Unreal Engine 5.
As for more hints as to what this new Witcher game might have, a job listing for Narrative Director asks for familiarity with branching and non-linear storytelling, and a posting for Senior Combat Designer points to a developer pitching enemy and weapon types. Taken altogether, the yet-untitled game looks suitably ambitious.
CD Projekt Red acquired The Molasses Flood in October 2021, a studio that previously developed a roguelike adventure game called The Flame in the Flood and s co-op, survival-building game called Drake Hollow. Given the mature content of The Witcher series, its upcoming game will likely be more gruesome and severe than those two.
